Hi, I use emacs 21.3.1 on SuSE linux. Is there a way to get root
privileges from inside emacs, so I can read and edit files for which
my normal account does not have access?
I know I can do this by accessing konsole, calling "su" and then
calling emacs with root privileges, but I wanted to know if there is a
way to do that from within emacs. I'm looking for something like "M-x
get-root-privileges" :) . Any idea?
Thanks in advance,
Stefano

Have a look at tramp mode. It can be found on the emacswiki.

Smoking is, as far as I'm concerned, the entire point of being an adult.
